What are idioms and why do you need to learn them?
Idioms are phrases that have a different figurative meaning than the literal meanings of each word. They are commonly used by native speakers in everyday conversations, and by familiarising yourself with their meaning, you will be one step closer to speaking like a native.
20 Common English Idioms
Now it’s time to learn 20 of the most common English idioms, which will help you enhance your vocabulary and make your English more advanced. Are you ready? Let’s start:
1. A SNAKE IN THE GRASS
We use this idiom to talk about someone who pretends to be your friend while actually harming you.

My neighbour is such a snake in the grass. I don’t trust her at all.

2. ADD FUEL TO THE FIRE
If we add fuel to the fire, we make a bad situation worse.

How to Outline an Essay In 4 Steps (IELTS / TOEFL)

English proficiency tests, such as the IELTS and TOEFL, include a written component to determine their evaluation. When preparing to write an essay, a useful tactic is to start out with an outline. An outline can help you to organize your ideas in a coherent fashion, allowing you to showcase your level of English within your essay more effectively.  Here I will show you how to do an outline for your essay in 4 easy steps!

What is an outline & why should I use one?

An outline is a tool used when writing an essay in order to help ensure flow and a good structure. When properly employed, being able to quickly and effectively write an outline can greatly improve your overall writing score on your essay. 

Typically an outline shouldn’t take a long time to make – for the TOEFL or IELTS exams it should take 5 minutes or less. Again, the main purpose of creating an outline is to ORGANIZE your ideas BEFORE you start writing your essay. This way, when you begin to write your essay, you already have a clear idea of what you want to say, and in what order.

How do I make an outline?

There are several different ways to make an outline – some people work better with the typical structure (discussed at length below with an example), while others prefer to use “mind maps” to flesh out their ideas. It is important that you experiment with a few different methods, and find which helps you to better organize your ideas in the most timely manner. 

Here I will go over how to make an outline (using the typical structure) step by step. For the purpose of this example we will use the following prompt (a TOEFL independent task):

TOEFL Example Question:

Some people like to travel with a companion. Other people prefer to travel alone. Which do you prefer?

Essay Outline Step #1:

For the TOEFL and IELTS often the topic is chosen for you to write about. You are given the prompt(s) and asked to discuss the content, or asked your opinion on a certain matter.

The first step is to decide on your thesis statement— in this case, this means your main opinion / position / argument / topic.

In most cases,  it is  better to just pick one side! (Although you are permitted to include both sides of the argument, generally there just isn’t enough time to fully explain your arguments in the depth required.)

Ex. I prefer to travel alone, and meet up with friends at the destination.

Essay Outline Step #2:

Think of a main idea for each body paragraph. Generally, you want to have at least 2 body paragraphs.

When writing the main idea, you can use 1 sentence (complete or incomplete), shorthand or even just 1 word– remember– what’s important here is that you remember what your idea is.  

(For the purpose of this exercise, I will use complete sentences in order to better illustrate the example.)

Body Paragraph 1: Travelling alone allows more freedom.

Body Paragraph 2:  Travelling alone is more relaxing.

Body Paragraph 3: Meeting with friends at the destination (or making new friends) allows you to decide which activities you want to partake in without feeling obligated.

Essay Outline Step #3:

Now, for each idea add a few supporting statements. Adding an example, or personal anecdote to further explain your point is also a great idea. 

Body Paragraph 1: Travelling alone allows more freedom.

  • Only need to eat / drink when and where you want
  • Don’t need to compromise

Body Paragraph 2:  Travelling alone is more relaxing.

  • You only need to worry about yourself and your needs
  • Can watch Netflix, listen to music, journal or whatever you want during the entire trip

Body Paragraph 3: Meeting with friends at the destination (or making new friends) allows you to decide which activities you want to partake in without feeling obligated.

  • Win win, you can still relax and have the freedom you want but not be lonely if you want to do an activity with someone else.

Essay Outline Step #4:

Now for all intents and purposes, you are ready to start writing!

Some people find it easier to start with the body paragraphs while others start with the introduction. Personally, I generally write my opening statement and thesis statement for the introduction first, then my body paragraphs. After writing the body paragraphs I go back to finish writing the introduction. I then read through the entire essay, and lastly, write the conclusion.

Conclusion:

All in all, knowing how to quickly and effectively write an outline can help improve your writing score. As shown above, outlining enables you to organize your ideas before you begin writing your essay in order to maintain a good flow throughout your essay and helps ensure an overall coherence.

Conditionals, also known as ‘if clauses’, describe a certain condition and its result. They can either describe real and possible situations (zero & first conditionals), or unreal (hypothetical / imaginary) situations (second, third & mixed conditionals).

Conditional sentences consist of two clauses: 

 

The  if clause which includes the condition:  If I have time

and the main clause which includes the result:  I will help you

 

The order of the clauses does not change the meaning. 

 

If I have time, I will help you. = I will help you if I have time. 

 

It is also possible to use this structure with some other words instead of if, such as: unless, as long as, when, as soon as, or in case.

 

I will help you as long as I have time.

 

Types of Conditionals

There are four types of conditionals in the English language: zero, first, second, and third. We can also mix second and third conditionals to form a mixed conditional.

Zero Conditional

We use the zero conditional to talk about things that are generally true. This can include scientific facts, as well as observations based on personal experience.

 

The structure is: If + present simple,  present simple.

 

If I don’t drink coffee in the morning, I feel sleepy all day.

 

Water boils if it is heated to 100°C.

 

First Conditional

We use the first conditional when we talk about future situations which are possible. 

The structure is usually: If + present simple, will + infinitive. 

 

 

If you don’t wear a jacket, you’ll feel cold.

 

We’ll go to the beach if it doesn’t rain.

 

Second Conditional

We use the second conditional for present or future situations that are unreal, impossible, or at least, unlikely to happen. We also use the second conditional to give advice.

 

The structure is: If + past simple, would + infinitive. 

 

With the verb to be, we can either use was or were with singular pronouns (I / he / she / it). This is because unreal conditionals use the subjunctive mood (whereas real conditionals use the indicative mood). For example:

 

If I were you, I wouldn’t buy this car.

 

I would call her and apologize if I were you.

 

Other examples of the second conditional include:

 

We would travel more if we had more money. 

 

If she saw a snake, she would scream.

 

Third Conditional

The third conditional is used to talk about unreal or imaginary situations in the past that did not happen. These situations are always impossible, and are often used to express regret.

 

The structure is: If + past perfect, would + have + past participle. 

 

If we had taken a taxi, we would have arrived on time. (Reality: We didn’t take a taxi, so we didn’t arrive on time.)

 

She would have passed the exam if she had studied harder. (Reality: She didn’t study hard, so she didn’t pass the exam.

 

Mixed Conditional

The mixed conditional is used for unreal conditions in the past and their probable (although unreal / impossible) result in the present. 

 

The structure is: If + past perfect, would + infinitive. 

 

If I had studied English in high school, I would have more job opportunities now. (Reality: I didn’t study  English in high school, so now I don’t have many job opportunities.)

 

If  they hadn’t missed their flight, they would be in Miami now. (Reality: They missed their flight, so they aren’t in Miami now.)

In Summary

Real conditionals (zero & first) are used to describe real and possible situations, such as scientific facts, or likely outcomes based on personal experience or common sense (If I go outside while it’s raining I will get wet).

 

Unreal conditionals (second, third & mixed) are used to describe unreal and impossible situations, such as hypothetical and imaginary situations, as well as regretful situations where we wish that we (or someone else) had done something differently (If you had watered the plants they wouldn’t have died).

6 MAneras de mejorar la comprensión auditiva en inglés

Como profesora de inglés, he escuchado la pregunta “¿cómo puedo mejorar mi compresión auditiva en inglés?” miles de veces. La comprensión auditiva es crucial para poder comunicar efectivamente, y también es una de las cosas más difíciles de perfeccionar. 

Para mejorar tu comprensión auditiva en inglés, la única forma es dedicarte y practicar, practicar, practicar, y después, practicar un poco más. 

Por eso, aquí comparto unas de mis formas favoritas para poder mejorar tu comprensión auditiva. 

Antes de empezar, quiero mencionar que algunas formas funcionan mejor con ciertos niveles. Sin embargo, desde el nivel más básico, es importante tomar el tiempo para practicar y escuchar cosas en inglés. Por eso, cada forma incluirá una sugerencia de nivel.

Mejorar tu ingles con videos

1. Videos en inglés (desde nivel básico)

Los videos (incluyendo series, películas, vídeos de youtube e instagram) son buenos porque hay muchas opciones y bastante diversidad. Puedes encontrar videos de cualquier tema que te guste, lo que facilita mantenerte interesado y concentrado. Además, los videos, por su componente visual, te ayudan a entender el contexto aun si no logras entender cada palabra. 

Ahora, es importante decir: ¡los videos con subtítulos en español NO sirven! 

Para practicar la comprensión auditiva, no se puede poner subtítulos en español porque así uno está leyendo (en tu lengua nativa) y no escuchando (en una lengua extranjera). 

Entonces, para los de nivel básico mi consejo sería lo siguiente:  empieza con videos más fáciles.  Estos pueden ser programas para niños por ejemplo– especialmente los videos de dibujos animados. 

Otra opción es elegir una serie o película que ya hayas visto y verla de nuevo sin subtítulos. Puedes pausar y ver una parte varias veces hasta que puedas comprender las palabras. Por último, es mil veces mejor poner los subtítulos en inglés si realmente sea necesario tenerlos.

2. Podcasts en inglés (desde nivel pre-intermedio)

Para mi, los podcasts son una de las mejores formas de practicar la comprensión auditiva. 

¿Por qué?  

Porque no requieren tanta atención como un video por el hecho que no hay un componente visual. Esto facilita su uso en entornos más amplios– por ejemplo cuando estás paseando con el perro,  en tránsito al trabajo, o simplemente haciendo aseo en la casa. 

También, el hecho que no tiene un componente visual significa que tienes que enfocarte más en las palabras habladas, y no existe la opción de hacer trampa y poner subtitulos. 

Además, ¡hay podcasts de todo!  Dos de mis favoritos son : Stuff You Should Know y The 27 Club. Los dos son producciones de  iHeart Radio y se pueden encontrar en Spotify, Apple Music y por su página web. 

Stuff You Should Know tiene dos presentadores, Josh y Chuck, y te explican conceptos y hechos verdaderos que son bastante interesantes. 

Me gusta este podcast porque los presentadores son super buena onda, chistosos y son fáciles de entender. Además, como su programa es como una conversación entre ellos, ayuda mucho en entrenar  tu oído para situaciones en la vida real como reuniones, donde muchas veces hay más de una persona presentando. 

Escucha a Stuff You Should Know aquí en Spotify / Apple / iheartradio 

The 27 Club es una historia basada en hechos reales de artistas que murieron a los 27 años. 

La primera temporada trata de Jimi Hendrix y la segunda de Jim Morrison. Los capítulos están presentados por Jake Brennan. Su entonación y forma de contar las historias es realmente única y bien interesante.

3. Música en inglés (desde nivel básico)

Escuchar música es otra manera de aumentar tu comprensión auditiva, aunque, en mi opinión, no es tan eficaz como las otras opciones. 

Escuchar música es conveniente, eso sí. 

Sin embargo, muchas veces los cantantes son difíciles de entender 100%, aun para personas de inglés nativo. Eso es porque con la música, como la poesía, hay un elemento artístico que deja que los cantantes cambian palabras o como se presenta la oración. 

Si tienes una canción favorita que te gustaría aprender, mi recomendación sería buscar las letras y aprenderlas mientras vas escuchando la canción. Así puedes impresionar a todos tus amigos en la próxima junta de karaoke 😉

Clases de ingles general

4. Clases de inglés general (desde nivel básico)

Las clases de inglés son otra forma muy obvia de aumentar tu nivel de inglés incluyendo tu comprensión auditiva. En las clases de gramática tradicionales se enfocan en todos los aspectos del aprendizaje y es una buena herramienta para personas de todos niveles.

5. Clases conversacionales (desde nivel pre-intermedio)

Las clases conversacionales son una excelente opción para las personas que tengan una buena base de inglés y realmente quieran practicar su comprensión auditiva y sus habilidades de habla. Estas clases pueden ser privadas o grupales y así tienes un profesional contigo para corregir tu inglés y trabajar directamente contigo en temas de comprensión.

6. Eventos de intercambio de idiomas (desde nivel pre-intermedio)

Existen varios eventos (¡y muchos gratuitos!) de intercambios de idiomas. Estos eventos pueden ser muy divertidos y te dan la oportunidad de conocer a gente de orígenes diversos. Algunos de estos eventos son muy estructurados y formales para alumnos más serios mientras otros son más en el fondo una forma de pasarlo bien con amigos. Para encontrar eventos en tu área, mi recomendación sería hacer una búsqueda en redes sociales.

Using the prepositions of time ON / IN / AT

IN

We use IN for centuries, decades, years, seasons, and months:

Peru was colonized in the 16th century.

My grandfather was born in the twenties.

He earned his degree in the year 1998.

What time does it get dark in the summer.

My parents got married in December.

 

We also use IN with morning, afternoon and evening.

She takes a shower in the morning.

They take a nap in the afternoon.

What time do you get home in the evening?

ON

We use ON for specific days and dates:

They’re arriving on Wednesday.

They got married on Friday the 13th.

I get paid on the 30th of every month.

We ate too much on Christmas Eve.

 

We also use ON in the following expressions:

on Monday mornings

on Sunday night

 

In American English ON is used with weekend:

I don’t work on the weekend.

AT

We use AT with specific times:

I woke up at 8 o’clock.

What are you doing at lunchtime?

They left the party at midnight.

 

We use AT with night:

It’s eleven o’clock at night in Barcelona.

 

We also use AT for holiday periods:

    How do we form the present simple? 

    ‘TO HAVE’

    3rd Person Singular

    • In the third person singular the verb always ends in -s: he wants, she needs, he gives
    • Negative and question forms use DOES:  Does he want strawberries? No, he doesn’t.
    • Verbs ending in -y : the third person changes the -y to -ies: fly –> flies, cry –> cries
      Exception: if there is a vowel before the –y: play –> plays, pray –> prays
    • Add -es to verbs ending in:-ss, -x, -sh, -ch: he passes, she catches, he fixes, it pushes

    Which version is the right one for you?

    Why are there two types of the IELTS test?

    The IELTS Academic test is for people applying for higher education or professional registration in an English speaking environment. This version assesses if a candidate is prepared for academic studying or training in English.

    The IELTS General Training test is for people who are going to an English speaking country for secondary education, work experience or training programs.  It is also a requirement for those migrating to the UK, Australia, Canada or New Zealand. The test focuses on basic survival skills in broad social and workplace contexts.

    What is the difference between IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training?

    Both tests consist of four parts: Listening, Reading, Writing (task 1 & task 2) and Speaking. Listening, Speaking and Writing Task 2 are the same for both tests, while Reading and Writing Task 1 differ depending on which test you take.

    Test Format

    LISTENING

    (30min)

    4 Parts:

    • Part 1 (10 questions) – a conversation between two people set in an everyday social context, e.g. a conversation about a job application.
    • Part 2 (10 questions) – a monologue set in an everyday social context, e.g. a training session for new employees.
    • Part 3 (10 questions) – a conversation between two main speakers, e.g. a student consulting his tutor about a presentation.
    • Part 4 (10 questions) – a monologue on an academic subject, e.g. a presentation.

    ACADEMIC READING

    (60min)

    3 Sections:

    • Three long texts which range from the descriptive and factual to the discursive and analytical.
    • Texts related to academic topics such as science and history, taken from journals, magazines, books, and newspapers.
    • Texts may contain  graphs, diagrams or illustrations.

    GENERAL TRAINING READING

    (60min)

    3 Sections:

    • Section 1 (‘social survival’)- two or three short texts or several shorter texts, e.g.  advertisements, notices, etc.
    • Section 2 (‘workplace survival’) – two texts, e.g. job descriptions, employment contracts, etc.
    • Section 3 (‘general reading’) – one long text, e.g. newspapers, book extracts, etc.

    ACADEMIC WRITING

    (60min)

    2 Tasks:

    • Task 1 – describe and explain data in one of the following: graph/table/chart/diagram/map. Write at least 150 words in about 20 minutes.

    • Task 2 – write an essay in response to a point of view, argument or problem. Write at least 250 words in about 40 minutes.

    GENERAL TRAINING WRITING

    (60min)

    2 Tasks:

    • Task 1 – write a letter (personal, semi-formal or formal). Write at least 150 words in about 20 minutes.
    • Task 2 –  write an essay in response to a point of view, argument or problem. Write at least 250 words in about 40 minutes.

    SPEAKING

    (11-14min)

    3 Parts:

    • Part 1 – general questions about yourself and a range of familiar topics, such as home, family, job/studies, leisure time, etc. 4-5 minutes.
    • Part 2 – you will be given a task card with a particular topic, e.g. ‘Describe an interesting hobby’. 3-4 minutes, including 1 minute preparation time.
    • Part 3 – you will be asked a broader range of questions based on the topic in Part 2. You will have to explain your answers and give examples. 4-5 minutes.

    10 errores comunes en inglés para los hispanohablantes

    Todos cometemos errores, incluidos hablantes nativos y no nativos, pero podemos aprender de ellos y no volver a cometerlos de nuevo. Aquí te presentamos 10 errores comunes que los hispanohablantes cometen en inglés y damos ejemplos de cómo corregirlos.

    1. Edad
    Este es un error muy común. Muchos hispanohablantes traducen “Tengo … años” al inglés y dicen “I have … years”, pero ten cuidado porque cuando hablamos de edad en inglés usamos el verbo “to be”, no “to have”.

    CORRECTO:
    I am 20 years old.
    I am 20.

    INCORRECTO:
    I have 20 years (old).
    I am 20 years.

    2. “Born”
    Este es otro error común. “Born” significa “nacido” mientras “nacer” es “to be born”. Entonces no olvides usar “born” con el verbo “to be”.

    CORRECTO:
    I was born in 1990.
    We were born in London.

    INCORRECTO:
    I born in 1990.
    We did born in London.

    3. “Depend”
    “Depend” es un verbo que se usa con la preposición “on”. Algunos estudiantes de inglés tienden a decir “it’s depend” pero “depend” es un verbo que no se usa con el verbo “ to be” y va seguido de la preposición “on”.

    CORRECTO:
    It depends on the weather.

    INCORRECTO:
    It’s depend of the weather.
    It depends of the weather.

    4. Plurales irregulares 
    En inglés, formamos los plurales regulares agregando “s” o “es”. Sin embargo, algunos sustantivos tienen formas plurales irregulares. Recuerda no agregar “s” al final de esos. Los plurales irregulares incluyen person – people, child – children, man – men, woman – women, foot – feet, tooth – teeth, entre otros.

    CORRECTO:
    She has three children.
    There were two women there.

    INCORRECTO:
    She has three childrens.
    There were two womens there.

    5. Conjugación incorrecta
    Otro ejemplo de una situación en la que la traducción directa del español al inglés te engañará es con la palabra “people”. A diferencia del español, donde “gente” es un sustantivo singular, en inglés “people” es plural.

    CORRECTO:
    The people were happy.

    INCORRECTO:
    The people was happy.

    6. Sujeto omitido
    Otro error que los hispanohablantes tienden a cometer en inglés es olvidar el sujeto. En inglés el sujeto es una parte esencial de una cláusula, así que asegúrate de no omitirlo.

    CORRECTO:
    I think it will rain.
    How is it? – It’s nice!

    INCORRECTO:
    I think will rain.
    How is it? – Is nice!

    7. “There is” y “There are”
    Usamos a menudo there is / there are para significar “hay”. “There is” se utiliza con sustantivos en singular, y también con sustantivos incontables mientras “there are” se usa con sustantivos plurales.

    CORRECTO:
    There is a beautiful lake.
    There are a lot of people.

    INCORRECTO:
    You have a beautiful lake.
    Have a lot of people.

    8. Artículo incorrecto
    Usualmente en inglés no usamos un artículo antes de los días de la semana, o antes del “last” y “next” seguidos de días / semanas / meses / años.

    CORRECTO:
    I go to the gym on Monday.
    We saw her last month.
    They’re meeting next month.

    INCORRECTO:
    I go to the gym the Monday.
    We saw her the last month.
    They’re meeting the next month.

    9. Doble negación
    En inglés estándar, cuando usamos palabras negativas como “nobody”, “nowhere”, “never” o “nothing”, comúnmente no usamos un verbo negativo.

    CORRECTO:
    I know nobody here.
    There is nothing on the table.

    INCORRECTO:
    I don’t know nobody here.
    There isn’t nothing on the table.

    10. “Agree”
    Aunque en español decimos “estoy de acuerdo”, en inglés “agree” no se usa con el verbo “to be”. En cambio, la forma correcta de decirlo es:

    CORRECTO:
    I agree with you.
    I don’t agree.

    INCORRECTO:
    I’m not agree with you.
    I’m not agree.

    1. ¿Qué es IELTS?
    IELTS (International English Language Testing System) es un examen internacional que evalúa el dominio del idioma inglés de hablantes no nativos de inglés. Los resultados son válidos por 2 años y los puntajes son de 0 a 9, en incrementos de 0.5 bandas. Las habilidades evaluadas incluyen: comprensión auditiva, lectura, escritura y expresión oral.

    2. ¿Por qué elegir el examen IELTS?
    Con 3,5 millones de exámenes realizados en 2018, IELTS es el examen de dominio del idioma inglés más popular del mundo para la educación superior y la migración global. Tomar el examen IELTS abre puertas: puede ayudarte a estudiar, a vivir o trabajar en casi cualquier parte del mundo.

    IELTS es aceptado como evidencia de dominio del idioma inglés para estudiar, trabajar y migrar en Australia, Canadá, Nueva Zelanda y el Reino Unido, así como para estudiar y trabajar en los Estados Unidos. Además, muchas instituciones europeas de educación superior ya aceptan los puntajes de IELTS como parte de sus requisitos de ingreso. Numerosos empleadores privados, organismos profesionales y agencias gubernamentales en Europa también reconocen que IELTS refleja fielmente su capacidad para comprender, leer, escribir y hablar inglés.

    3. Versiones del examen: IELTS General Training y IELTS Academic.
    IELTS General Training es el examen que necesitas aprobar si quieres trabajar, estudiar a nivel preuniversitario, viajar o emigrar a un país de habla inglesa.

    Para aplicaciones universitarias, ya sea para un programa de pregrado o postgrado, el IELTS Academic es el adecuado para ti. También será la mejor opción si planeas trabajar para una empresa a nivel más profesional en un país de habla inglesa, 

    4. Formato de IELTS
    El examen IELTS consta de cuatro partes: comprensión auditiva (listening), comprensión lectora (reading), expresión escrita (writing) y expresión oral (speaking). El tiempo total de los exámenes listening, reading y writing es de 2 horas y 40 minutos. El examen de speaking puede hacerse el mismo día o siete días antes o después de las otras pruebas.

    Ambas versiones, IELTS Academic y General Training, tienen las mismas partes de listening y speaking, mientras que las partes de reading y writing son diferentes:

    • Listening: 4 secciones, 40 preguntas, 30 minutos + 10 minutos para pasar las respuestas a la hoja de respuestas.
    • Reading: diferente para IELTS Academic y General Training: 3 secciones, 40 preguntas, 60 minutos
    • Writing: diferente para IELTS Academic y General Training: 2 piezas de escritura, 60 minutos
    • Speaking: entrevista, 3 partes, 11 – 14 minutos

    5. Evaluación
    IELTS tiene un sistema de puntuación de 9 bandas. Los puntajes de la banda van del 0 al 9 para cada sección del examen IELTS. Se pueden usar tanto los puntajes completos como medios (por ejemplo, 5,0; 6,5; 7,0; 7,5). El promedio de los cuatro puntajes producirá el puntaje general de la banda IELTS.

    6. ¿Cómo prepararse para el examen?
    Independiente de tu nivel de inglés, es posible que desees considerar la preparación para IELTS. Estos cursos te preparan para el formato y los tipos de preguntas que aparecen en el examen.     5 tips para mejorar tu vocabulario en inglés

    Inglés intermedio o avanzado? Aquí tenemos cinco “tips” (consejos) para mejorar tu vocabulario en inglés! Aprendiendo un idioma nuevo requiere dedicación, pero hay formas fáciles para mejorar tu vocabulario en tu vida “day to day” (cotidiana).

    1. Cambiar la preferencia de idioma en tu teléfono y/o computador.

    Como se dice un archivo en inglés? Ah sí, a file. El hecho que ya sabes donde encontrar cada una de las funciones de tu teléfono y computador significa que puedes cambiar el idioma fácilmente y aprender muchas palabras útiles con mínimo esfuerzo.

    2. Cambiar tu preferencia de idioma en tus aplicaciones más usadas.

    De nuevo, muchas veces ya sabes dónde o cómo cumplir las funciones en tus aplicaciones más usadas… quieres mejorar tu vocabulario de direcciones? Cambia waze a inglés y practica cuando vayas a lugares ya conocidos. Esto no solo ayuda con tu vocabulario sino también con tu comprensión de oído.

    3. Ver tus peliculas/series favoritas en inglés, con los subtítulos en inglés, y después, sin subtítulos.

    Tienes una película favorita que ya has visto mil veces? La próxima vez que tengas las ganas de verla de nuevo, ponla en inglés y practica a escuchar el diálogo, identificando las palabras en inglés. Si no tienes una película favorita que ya sepas de memoria, te recomendamos ver una serie animada (porque por lo general hablan más lento) como The Simpsons, Family Guy, o Rick and Morty.

    4. Buscar las letras de tu canción favorita y aprenderla.

    Todo el mundo tiene una canción favorita. Busca las letras de la tuya por Internet y traduce la canción entera, usando un traductor para cualquiera palabra que no entiendas. De ahí puedes aprender la canción y cantarla bien… No será nada de “huevos con aceite”.

    5. Leer nuestro blog y seguirnos en Instagram!

    Cada dia ponemos un post en Instagram. Cada dos semanas publicamos artículos en nuestro blog. Unos serán informativos y en español (como éste) y otros serán de temas diversos en inglés para practicar tu comprensión de lectura.
